Overview

This Bachelor’s degree provides you with all of the skills and knowledge necessary to become a successful quantity surveyor. Quantity Surveying is about providing clients of the construction industry with financial, contractual and technical advice ensuring they get value for money from the buildings they construct. The modern quantity surveyor is a construction professional who may be involved at all stages of the design and construction process, from providing business strategy advice, working with architects and design team consultants, through to overseeing the onsite construction phase.

Accreditation

This programme is accredited by the, Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors (ICES) and Board of Quantity Surveyors Malaysia (BQSM).

Career Opportunities

Our Quantity Surveying graduates go on to careers both in the public sector and international consulting and contracting organisations including Skanska, BAM, Aecom, YTL Group and Turner and Townsend. Roles in which graduates are employed vary widely and include quantity surveyor, graduate engineer and site manager.

Teaching and Assessment

Teaching involves a mix of lectures, tutorials and practical work. Assessment is by a combination of coursework and examination. By the final year, coursework assessment, principally through the design project and research dissertations, accounts for 50% of the final assessment.

Overview

This Bachelor’s degree will prepare you for a career in the management of construction projects from inception to completion, throughout all stages of the design and construction process.

Much of the curriculum is concerned with the management and supervision of construction sites and the resource planning connected with large-scale projects.

There is also a strong emphasis on construction technology as well as courses that give students a background in valuation and procurement.

Accreditation

This programme is accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), and the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).

Career Opportunities

The main graduate destination is in the discipline of Project Management within the construction sector. The programme is focused on delivering high-quality graduates for the public and private sectors in client, consultancy and contracting organisations.

Our graduates work for national and international contracting firms and project management consultants including YTL Group, Petronas, Setia Group, Tesco.

Empower Programme

The Empower Programme is a 4-level structured programme that is aimed at future-proofing our graduates, to unleash their potential and to prepare them to stand out and have an impact in a highly uncertain world. As students go through the programme, they accumulate Watts. Students will have a transcript that will document their developmental journey. The first level (Watt level), where students may accumulate up to 999 Watts, is delivered through a course that is aimed at "Self Leadership" and "Defining Impact". The other three levels are achieved through a more personalised approach where different students will work with their personal tutors.

Students will receive a transcript that documents their developmental journey.
